From August into September, three places opened near La Quinta's Highway 111 that are built around the first half of the day. There's a Florida-born breakfast cafe, a second shop from a Coachella coffee roaster, and a tamale kitchen run by a cook whose food made her name in Indio. Their menus don't overlap much. Their hours do something more useful, because each one covers a different stretch of the week. If you know when each door opens and which day each one closes, you've already answered most of the "where are we going for breakfast" question.
Keke's Breakfast Cafe opened on August 27, 2026, at 79892 Highway 111. It took over the address that used to be an IHOP, a swap WhatNow first reported back in March when the La Quinta location was announced. The grand opening came on September 17, according to The GEM's coverage from the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber.
Keke's sets the schedule everything else gets measured against. It's open from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every day and closes only on Thanksgiving and Christmas, per the La Quinta location page. Of the three new spots it opens earliest, closes latest, and is the only one with no weekly day off.
The chain started in Florida in 2006, founded by two brothers who wanted the kind of breakfast cafe they remembered from home. Senior General Manager Vicente Rojas Miranda described the room he wants to run this way:
"We want someone stopping in before work to feel just as comfortable as a family taking its time over brunch."
That range, from a quick stop before work to a slow family table, is what full-service hours from 7 a.m. are for. Neither of the other two new openings has a door open at that hour.
By 8 a.m., two more places are serving, and they couldn't be much further apart in character.
Sixth Street Coffee opened its second location at 79410 Highway 111. The Coachella Valley Independent noted that it adds a brunch menu to the usual coffee lineup. The original shop is in Coachella, and Palm Springs Life profiled owner Steve Garcia when the business was still new. The brand's site says it was established in 2019. The drinks lean on flavors you won't find at a national chain: a horchata latte, a Spanish latte, and a honey con canela. The brunch side is short and easy to read, with avocado toast, a lox and bagel, and a veggie bagel.
Casa de Silvia opened at 47875 Caleo Bay, Suite A106. The Independent described it as an award-winning tamale business that once had a location in Indio. That Indio restaurant got a Desert Sun feature in 2017 built around Silvia Rendon's award-winning tamales and Mexican home cooking. The La Quinta menu brings those tamales to the breakfast table. The "De Colores" plate pairs one cheese tamale with one pork tamale, and a homestyle tamale is listed on its own.
Both places start serving at 8. After that, their schedules split.
Here's how the three line up across a week, based on each business's published hours.
| Day | Keke's Breakfast Cafe | Sixth Street Coffee brunch | Casa de Silvia |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | Hours listed differently by two sources | 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. |
| Tuesday | 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. |
| Wednesday | 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Closed |
| Thursday | 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. |
| Friday | 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. |
| Saturday | 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. |
| Sunday | 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. |
Two cells in that grid matter most.
Wednesday belongs to the other two. Casa de Silvia's site calls Wednesday its "day of rest," and the kitchen runs Thursday through Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. A tamale craving midweek has to wait a day.
Monday brunch at Sixth Street needs a quick check. The Independent's August report called the La Quinta brunch menu "daily." The brand's own menu page lists "Sixth Brunch" as Tuesday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and it doesn't say whether that applies to one shop or both. Until those line up, the shop's Instagram is the place to confirm before a Monday drive. The coffee itself isn't in question. The open question is whether the avocado toast is.
The grid shows one more pattern. Sixth Street's brunch ends at 1 p.m., Casa de Silvia closes at 2, and Keke's at 2:30. All three are built around the morning, and none of them runs into dinner. Keke's runs the longest, and it still stops serving before the afternoon heat peaks for most of the year.
That makes timing the main decision. A late riser who rolls in at 12:45 still makes all three. A golfer coming off a late-morning round has about ninety minutes of margin at Casa de Silvia and a little more at Keke's. Sixth Street's brunch window is the tightest of the three. Plan an unhurried weekend plate there for the first half of the window, not the tail end.
Casa de Silvia also has a rule that shapes group plans. It's walk-in only and takes no reservations. For a table of six on a Sunday morning, arriving close to the 8 a.m. opening is the only lever you have.
Put the hours and menus together and you get a short lookup list:
For anyone keeping score, the same August report noted a Shake Shack opening at 78772 Highway 111, the chain's second Coachella Valley location. It's a burger stop, not a breakfast one, but it rounds out how much changed along this stretch in a single summer.
All three openings arrived on a road the city is actively planning. The La Quinta City Council approved the Highway 111 Corridor Specific Plan on April 7, 2026. It covers the roughly two-mile commercial stretch from Washington Street to Jefferson Street, though the plan page doesn't give a construction start or finish date.
More breakfast customers may be on the way. On September 15, the council approved a roughly $2.09 million land-sale agreement for a proposed 113-room AC Hotel by Marriott beside the Residence Inn at Highway 111 and Dune Palms Road. The project still has entitlements and other conditions to clear, according to Greater Palm Springs Business Insider's State of the City recap. No opening date has been reported. For now, Wednesday's tamale gap and Sixth Street's Monday brunch question are the two things to check before you head out.
Knowing which door opens at 7 and which one rests on Wednesday is the kind of local detail we track all year, whether you've lived here a decade or you're working out your first winter of morning routines.
